This mama is SO playful and wants a ton of attention! She was only estimated to be around 10 months old and weighed only 6.5 lbs when she came into the shelter with her 5 babies. ⁣😭

Only a few more weeks and she’ll get to go back to being a kitten!

Unfortunately they were not able to remove any of the poop. They did make his passageway bigger but they said it’s still so small so he will need the same procedure done again next week. Usually these are done a few times. ⁣

He’s feeling great though and I just saw him take the biggest poop I’ve ever seen him take ( still small but big for him)! ⁣
⁣
This video is from last night. He’s too excited right now to sit still for a video and he’s very happy to be back with Crinkle and Shoestring. I’ll share some videos of him on my stories though playing with them.

Sweet Potato Needs Surgery! ☹️

I took him to a different vet for a second opinion and xrays today and we learned that Sweet Potato has a congenital defect. The passageway that carries the poop out of his body is VERY narrow. This basically causes a blockage because his poop can’t get out of his body properly. Unfortunately, surgery is necessary to fix this but thankfully it’s a relatively easy surgery.

Today’s vet bill was $550 and the surgery is estimated to be $1200. I hate asking for support, but we really need it. So if you’d like to help me help Sweet Potato, please either donate via PayPal - jess@kittenbnb.com or venmo @kittenbnb.

I don’t have much of an update on Sweet Potato.

I don’t have much of an update on Sweet Potato. He’s still at the shelter being observed by the vets. I was told yesterday though that he made some progress by pooping twice on his own (although they were very tiny poops) and they could still feel more was in him. ⁣

Overall though, he’s still in good spirits with good energy. I was also told the shelter staff love him and that he’s the sweetest potato 😊⁣

Hopefully we’ll have more news in a couple of days.⁣

If you saw my stories yesterday, you’d know that Sweet Potato is still having some constipation issues. After trying a lot of different things ( Lactulose, pumpkin, miralax etc), I thought it was best to bring him back into the shelter vet for another consult. ⁣
⁣
The vets decided that they wanted to keep Sweet Potato for observation so they can understand what is going on and if it’s something congenital. Despite his poop issues, Sweet Potato is the sweetest boy and has great energy and is eating really well. ⁣

On another note, while I was at the shelter, I was informed about a Mom and her two-week-old babies who needed a foster. To make a long story short, I couldn’t leave them there, so now they are here with me. ⁣

Sweet Potato is unfortunately still having some 💩issues. I thought his constipation was gone since he was doing so well for a few days but it’s back again. ☹️⁣

I started him back on lactulose last night and he pooped all over today 🤦🏼‍♀️ so he’s no longer backed up but we will need to consult a vet to figure out some sort of treatment plan. ⁣

On the plus side, he’s been eating a ton and is quickly catching up to his siblings in size! He also has great energy.
